Matthias Mueller - CEO of the SABRE GmbH
Matthias is not only the first beta user of all SABRE prototypes, but he is also the initiator of the SABRE project, which began in earnest when he approached Germán Toro Pérez, Director of the ICST (Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology), with his idea. With his endless commitment to the SABRE project, Matthias is the driving force of the team. For him, the SABRE project developed out of an artistic need to complement the acoustic qualities of the bass clarinet with an ergonomic control of live electronics on stage.
The first one to play this instrument on the stages of major concert halls and venues in Europe, Asia, and the USA, Matthias is tirelessly commissioning the best composers of electronic music to write pieces for the SABRE prototype. Thus, he has played more than 15 world premieres on the instrument. As a professor for clarinet, he is also encouraging his students at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) to create their own firsthand experiences with the augmented instrument.
In 2015, he initiated the first step from research to making an actual product ready for the market by founding the SABRE GmbH (LLC), of which he is the CEO. Matthias is an innovative visionary with an unstoppable energy!
